FCP-Article collection- Innovations in pharmacology for psychiatry

Psychiatry has long been a medical discipline lacking in pharmacological innovation. Many of its drugs were invented more than 50 years ago, with little renewal of pharmacological concepts. These psychotropic drugs have kept their place in psychotherapeutic strategies, but often with long treatment adjustments and frequent adverse effects. However, recent years have seen the emergence of hallucinogens for therapeutic purposes, offering the prospect of therapeutic progress. While this new generation of drug candidates has limitations, they have been catalysts in the revitalization of the community of pharmacology and therapeutics applied to psychiatry. FCP is launching a new Article Collection to explore this renewed field, including new preclinical and clinical avenues and innovative methods for drug discovery in psychiatry.

Topics for this call for papers include but are not restricted to:

  • Any CNS molecule with potential innovative indications in psychiatry, from molecular pharmacology to preclinical and clinical studies.
  • Any preclinical and clinical pharmacology methods that may be of interest for psychiatric drug discovery.
